Be it due to difficult economic times, demanding work schedules, or cultural preference, multi-generational living has been on the upswing over the last couple of years. The number of buyers looking for houses in Spring Texas with mother-in law suites, separate entrances, living quarters over the garage, and/or 2 bedrooms have continued to increase.
Builders have acknowledged the demand for multi-generational living and have begun to offer multi-generational housing in some of their newer communities in the Spring Texas area. In section 4 of Lakes of Cypress Forest, Darling Homes built their model home to showcase their new multi-generational housing option. The 2 story model home has a 3 car garage, 5 bedrooms with 3 bedrooms on the first floor, and 5 full baths. Located on the first floor, the in-law suite resembles an efficiency apartment. The in-law suite has a private outside entrance into a large living area with a kitchenette and connects to a spacious bedroom and a full bath. The in-law suite can also be accessed through one of the home’s interior doors.
Another example of a multi-generational housing option in Spring Texas is being offered by Lennar in Auburn Lakes. The in-law suite is accessible via a hallway from the one car garage. Although the in-law suite doesn’t offer the true privacy of comings and goings as the floor plan offered by Darling Homes in Lakes of Cypress Forest.
Only time will tell how multi-generational housing will do in the resale market. But with the ethnic diversification of the Spring Texas area, future demand for multi-generational housing should be strong.
